For the first milestone, we were told to prepare 3 tasks, which we have
to complete for the project, as well as answer some questions which will guide
us in the process.
As my group was clueless at this stage, we decided to use the suggested
tasks provided by the guest lecturer. We also decided to focus on weekly
evolution of our data since daily evolution is not recommended. Here are the tasks
that we came up with:
·
Prepare one infographic
according to outline structure.
·
Prepare the same report
without daily evolution but with weeks
·
Try to combine daily
evolution of matrix (namely fans and engagement rate)
Before exploring the data, we
acknowledged that the data given to us comes from Social Bakers, who has
developed formula for the various metrics used. E.g.
Engagement rate is calculated as number
of interactions to a post (likes, comments and shares) divided by the number of fans for a page.
A page’s engagement rate is an average of all engagement rates for a selected
period. Having the knowledge of the source of data and the various metrics is
especially important in order to better understand the numbers.
After exploring the data, we
identified some problems that the client is facing:
- For client and competitor 1,
their Facebook engagement rate is dropping even though number of
interactions is increasing
- For client’s twitter, the
engagement decreased slightly even though its mentions is increasing.
We also identified that our target audience would be the
brand manager or the social media marketer of the client’s company. With this
in mind, our infographic can be made more focused and useful.
